Red Bank, NJ

Before Red Bank adopted its Historic Preservation Ordinance in 2003 the borough had 7 structures historically registered. Additionally, one Historic District was locally recognized. Since 2003 Red Bank’s Historic Preservation Commission has designated 202 sites and one historic district. Red Bank now has a total of 210 historic sites and 2 historic districts on either the federal, state or local register.

The goal of this project is to show the potential of GIS as a valuable visual tool that promotes an awareness of Historic Preservation. The materials presented document the Historic Preservation movement in Red Bank. The focus is on its history, challenges, achievements and failures.
